I love change. I know, sounds crazy, right? Some changes we have control over, some we do not. Either way, I have learned that each time I embrace change, I am subjected to experiences that lead me on new and exciting adventures—ones that far surpass anything I could ever have imagined.

There are two major changes in my life that had a huge impact on me. One was the mysterious illness of my three-year-old son. I learned that even in the deepest, darkest and scariest times of our lives, it is truly possible to have hope, peace, comfort and joy.

My son’s story and the impact it had on my family was so significant that it inspired me to write a book. That book turned into an international best selling Christian fiction romantic suspense series known as The Wilson Series.

The second major change occurred after the birth of our first child. I was at the height of an exciting career in the high tech industry helping individuals and organizations manage significant change. But my heart longed to be home with our son, so I resigned. Over the next five years, we added two more girls to our family. I could not have been happier!

My intent was always to return to work when the youngest of our three children entered school. My plans were derailed when we discovered the wonderful world of homeschooling. What started as a one year trial, turned into the most incredible 18 years of pure adventure! Over time, I was able to incorporate a part-time consulting business on the side. Who knew life could be so good?

Our family’s experience with homeschooling convinced us all that it was the best-kept lifestyle secret in the world. And so, once again, I put fingers to keyboard and out popped The Happy Homeschooler: Ten Simple Strategies to Increase Productivity, Foster Joy and Avoid Burnout.

I cannot count the number of times I have sat over tea and coached other homeschooling mothers and fathers on how to enhance their homeschooling life. These interactions turned into a desire to help a wider sphere of families. My greatest hope is to reach as many people as I can via online coaching, virtual summits, conferences and in-person events. Perhaps one day I will have the privilege of meeting you and hearing all about your life story!
